THE RANGE OF CULINARY PRACTICES
Consider a spectrum.
On the extreme end of the scale, there are severe diets, regimens, and food regulations that feel constrictive and demand self-control from the participant. You eat “super clean” here and stay away from all “bad” stuff.
The complete opposite of attending to your nutritional demands is this.
This can occasionally appear as eating anything you want, whenever you want. This typically occurs when someone thinks that the greatest approach to maintain balance is to constantly say yes to meals they have previously classified as “bad” or “off-limits.”
It may also appear as a lack of awareness about making sure you’re obtaining an adequate amount of nutrients or a lack of confidence in understanding what your body requires to be nourished without following a set diet.
How to Make the Appropriate Balanced Food Selections
It might be difficult to define balanced eating; what does it actually mean and look like in terms of food?
Although everyone’s definition of balance at each meal may be different, there is one crucial lesson to learn about achieving and sustaining balance, and I cover it in this video.
THE RANGE OF CULINARY PRACTICES
Consider a spectrum.
On the extreme end of the scale, there are severe diets, regimens, and food regulations that feel constrictive and demand self-control from the participant. You eat “super clean” here and stay away from all “bad” stuff.
Conversely, of the range is not attending to your dietary requirements.
This can occasionally appear as eating anything you want, whenever you want. This typically occurs when someone thinks that the greatest approach to maintain balance is to constantly say yes to meals they have previously classified as “bad” or “off-limits.”
It can also appear as a lack of awareness about making sure you’re getting the right amount of nutrients or as a lack of confidence in your ability to determine what your body needs to be nourished without the help of a prescribed diet.
You may eventually feel worse if you simply give up dieting without learning how to focus on your nutritional needs in a more supportive and long-lasting approach from your healthy weight, or your physical well-being could deteriorate. And all of these factors could make you feel compelled to go to the opposite end of the spectrum by making you want to go on a diet.
To simply feel your best and to take care of your health and wellbeing, you need to nourish your body effectively.
Recall that food is the fuel for all aspects of our health and the reason we may live fulfilling lives. You have the right to discover a self-nourishment method that upholds you without putting you under pressure to control or limit yourself.
AN IMAGE OF BALANCED EATING
We want to achieve equilibrium, or a happy middle.
When the term “happy medium” is used, some people assume that it means vacillating between the two extremes of the spectrum, spending some time on one and other ends.
This could sound something like this: you’ve been “good” all week, therefore this weekend you can eat whatever you want.
Alternatively, you may explain that you’ve been so “bad” this week and that you need to make up for it by eating a really clean diet the next week.
However, that isn’t entirely balanced. That is the oscillation of two extreme conditions.
That is not only detrimental to your health, but it also prevents you from experiencing the vital feelings of comfort, tranquility, and happiness that come with eating.
Here’s where you’re making really deliberate decisions that give you the freedom to eat the things you want without compromising your nutritional needs, and that also enable you to nourish yourself properly without feeling the need to restrict or regulate yourself.
This could appear like savoring a side salad and a piece of pizza.
You may decide to have dessert one evening because you’ve given your body the food it needs, you really want it, and you have your favorite dessert on hand.
To sneak more whole foods into your day and make it a truly delightful dinner, it can appear as though you’ve chosen to cook a healthier version of your favorite comfort dish.
This equilibrium enables you to respect your needs and desires, gain self-assurance in your capacity to make the best decisions for yourself, and feel much more at ease and at peace when it comes to food, so it no longer causes tension or consumes your mental energy.
WAYS TO IDENTIFY AND PRESERVE BALANCE
You must develop new, more sustaining habits and mindsets that enable you to permanently linger in this middle, balanced state if you want to find this balance and avoid swinging from one extreme of the spectrum to the other.
